Custom Tank Builders

Hello:

I will be upgrading my current Oceanic tank to a custom build 225 gl. I am looking for custom builders (hopefully locally in the CT/NY/NJ/PA area, but will consider having it shipped in from further distance.

Can anyone offer their input on tank builders, both positive and negative experiences. And supply a list of builders that can build a custom tank. Kinda out of the loop of builders and need some assistance. Really looking forward to this upgrade so i can get starphire glass, euro-bracing, external overflows, etc., etc....... If you post and/or PM that would be appreciated.

If you are not opposed to acrylic, Paul (Kimoyo- on this site) built me a really well made acrylic cube tank.

All depends on how much you want to spend.

Miracles Aquariums, glasscages, and there is another but forgot the name.

Also check out the Elos systems. They are like the ferarri of tanks if u don't mind going standard sizes although i think they can come custom.

Question would be what size are you looking to go up to? Aquarium Obsesse are nice. I seen a couple of tanks made my Miracles they also do a great job.

I've seen some great work by Kimoyo (Paul)... I myself don't do tanks but everything else like plumbing, electric, wood work, lighting, water chemistry, my specialty..

Coasttocoast aqauriums is located in NJ and they do phenominal work and are in our backyard. In addition, they will be at Macna. Chris Walker is an outstanding individual and If I were you I would head down to the conference and see his tanks as well as others and talk to them in person. Doesn't get much better than this....

I'll have to give coast to coast a try.. Glasscages has disappointed me twice I just offer customers reg glass until i got a freind to build tanks for me, but he's never available now new baby.. Horrible silicone jobs by GC.. I just did my own tank and it looks way better with no bubles in the silicone..

Tobin, are you going to Macna ?....talk to him....and you will appreciate his craftsmanship. It is on point.

i cannot recommend AO as a tank builder, they just did my tank and if i had to do it all over again, i would have definitely had someone else do it. they do build beautiful tanks but they are losing there reputation these days as they have taken a turn for the worse.

What were some of the disappointments with the tank so that others can get an idea when they size up AO & Miracles?

Paul (kimoyo) Built me a great sump look's so good you could use it as a tank does great work.

pecan.......i am not disappointed with the tank itself, it is AO that i have issues with. i will say that there is a lot of deception from AO. there current business practices leaves a lot to be desired.
