Hi there,
This is for the H.S. Tanks and so far all of the livestock/rocks/etc and most of the equipment have come from my old tanks, donations from MR and NJReefers, and Vendors on both sites. I was about to check out lower cost equipment at drsfosterandsmith, and try and find other large/low cost websites and decided that the money should go to real people, real small businesses and back to the community.
So, we're going to try and make purchases (incl. equipment) from vendors here (hobbyists too, it's just that no one ever replies to my WTB threads so I figure hobbyists don't have/can't sell what we need). If you are a hobbyist that also makes sumps/etc then that's cool too.
Donations are fine, but we are doing fundraisers and so have a small budget. We're not looking for anything fancy/expensive. We are not being funded by the school, so all of our money comes from fundraising.
Soooo,
-Looking for phosban, nitrate remover, salt, filter socks or small micron sheets depending on what kind of sump we get.
-Looking for a sump for a 55g tank. Would like space for a fuge, should have baffles, does not need to be new. Working with a space as wide as a 20gallon, but 3 ft of length and about 2ft of height. We do not have to keep the protein skimmer/phosphate remover in the sump, but would prefer it. Would like something that isn't too expensive. Glass is fine.
- Protein skimmer for 55g tank. The reef tank has a pretty low bio load with max fish...8-10 small to medium in size, fed only twice a day (very little). One other protein skimmer for a different 55g tank (soon to be set up) as a predator/aggressive tank with 1-2 fish but larger feedings.
- Hood for 55 g tank. Would prefer that lights can be mounted with in. Prefer wood. Prefer to be able to lift "flap" for feedings, but also be able to lock it if possible. Also, hood may have to be cut to fit filters/any hang on objects.
If you want to check out the set up especially to qoute for the hood/sump then tank is at East Side H.S. 238 Van Buren St. , Newark, NJ. We can set up a viewing during the day, Friday after school, or Saturdays before 3pm (must be scheduled in advance so I can get permission from the principal to be in on weekends).
