Hey guys my rodi filter was acting up so I had to send it to get fixed. I'd like to buy a few gallons of rodi water (enought to fill a bucket or so) to hold me over until I get it back. I can mix the salt here, just need the water. It'd be cool if someone from queens could help. Please post or PM me your price.

Thanks.

Sending it out to 'get it fixed'? There are no moving parts. What needs fixing? The filters, resin and membranes are all very easy to diagnose & troubleshoot. I hope you're not paying much to get it 'fixed'.

I just want to thank everyone for their kind offers. Bimmer01 lives close by and he was kind enough to offer me a bucket of rodi and I will be taking him up on his offer. Thank you again guys.

Russ - it's an awi typhoon extreme 150gpd. I changed the membrane, the prefilters, and the other parts they sent, but it still isn't working as it should. The pressure gauge isn't working, when i changed the membrane & prefilters it still showed that I needed to replace the membrane, the tds got to an unacceptable level, etc. They're not charging anything (aside from my shipping costs), but it is a pain in the rear to go through this. Thanks for the concern.

When you replaced the membrane, were you sure to put a new 150 gpd membrane in the canister?

Did you flush the new filters for a good solid 15-20 minutes?

Did you ever run hot water through the filters?

Do you know the psi of your source water?

Just trying to do a little troubleshooting for ya.

Hmm.. maybe its the hot water Russ. I turn up both the hot and cold water to get better pressure (40-45psi) and once or twice I've felt that the hot water has overpowered the cold water.. is the hot water bad? I didn't know..

It was definitely 150gpd membrane. And I flushed the filters for about 5-10 minutes. Thanks for the help..

Please do not quote me on this but I was always under the impression that any filter system should be installed on cold water only? It really doesn't make sense to install it on the hot side.

Again, I could be wrong but I've only seen it installed on the cold water side. Instant hots are what I have usually seen under sinks for hot water and I think there are even filters made specifically for hot water. I think Culligan as an example calls their hot water filters, Red-Hots. Hope this helps but I think Russ hit the nail on the head.

Jbjints, you may be right. I have a faucet adapter so on occassion I turn both the hot and cold water on to get higher pressure. But you may well be correct, maybe I screwed up by using the hot water.. What do you say Russ? Lol

Please do not give me any credit at all, it was all Russ. Hot water never even crossed my mind in all honesty because I have never seen anything but a dedicated hot water filter used for hot water and I've never seen anyone add hot water to their tank so it never crossed my mind.

+1 for Russ.

Sorry for the slow reply guys. Yes, hot water WILL damage the RO membrane on any RO/DI system not specifically designed for hot water usage. I've actually never heard of an RO membrane designed for hot water. The optimum temperature for RO/DI filters is between 76-79 degrees F.

It is NOT RECOMMENDED to turn on any hot water to bring your cold water supply up to temperature though. Use the cold water supply line under your sink (if that's where you're filter is located) for your RO/DI filtration.

I believe we nailed the reason your filter stopped working. Glad I could help.
