I am setting up my ca reactor and I am trying to use the gravity feed method but can't get it to full the chamber all the way up...

Help..if i decide to use a power head how can i connect the 1/4 inch tube to the powerhead...

I prefer to use the gravity feed method to cut down on heat from powerheads..

PS..it's a precision Marine reactor with a second chamber...

You may need to have the entire reactor full to create the syphon, i.e. use a pump to fill it and them let gravity take over.

As for connecting a powerhead there are adapters. Is your 1/4 inch tubing vinyl tubing? because you could always melt it (open flame or hot hair dryer) to soften it up so that it fits around the powerhead.

use an aqualifter pump instead. it looks similar to an air pump but is capable of sucking inwater and pushing it out. does not add heat to a tank and uses very little electricity. it also uses regular sized air line tubing.

I would also go with the aqualifter pump or a small power head insted of the gravity feed.

If you have a power outage with the gravity feed it will just keep on feeding and there you have a good chance for a flood.
