Heater tried to boil my nano

I stuck a 50 watt heater in my nano set @ 78, i noticed my corals looking a little "dead" so the first thing i thought was maybe I should do a water change so i stuck my hand in there to take out some water and almost got burn't. Seems like my heater has been cooking my corals

Man-o-man reef guy, I just hate this stuff - This is one os my worst nightmares - heaters freaking out.

Do water changes slowly, so that there isn't a heat shock - better yet, let it cool naturally and hope for the best.

Wow... that sucks man. Hope everything makes it out ok, that tank was starting to look really good.

well i did a 2 gallon water change got it down to 85 so it should be ok from there. Atleast nothing died. which suprises me
