I think it depends on the company that makes it. Ice Cap says their electronic uses 25% less electricity. You can look up specs on line, but unless you use a volt meter, you wo't really know.

i think frequency is the key to all this, ICe uses IC chips to change frequency but magnetic uses a magnetic coil over to change the frequency on what the electric turns on the MH bulb. I dont think magnetic is efficent because of that, requires more energy.
