Most multimeter that I have seen in Radio Shack is sufficient enough to test the Meanwell drivers. You don't need perfect accuracy as the driver will fluctuate a little during operation. It must some other problems you are running into.

I am using a clamp to test DC current. Just wondering if that is as accurate as putting the multi-meter in-line with the leds

It is not the best method but ALL the diyers and DIY LED used that method in Youtube. You can search. You can search you tube for step by step instructions.

Couple notes:
1)Leave yourself margin of error for the current to fluctuate as the dimmer power supply may not be very stable. I know of one company's kit ac/dc adpater is not reliable
2)When measuring with the mutlimeter inline, make sure the probe is plug into the correct hole and that he dial is correctly set at the right current measuring fucntion. (Do not move the dial when power is on!) You could burn out part of the meter without notice.
