Agree with Nanoreefer22 When comes down to a refractometer vs a hydrometer (which I believe is the Seatest you are talking about), I would almost always go with the refractometer.

Before you do anything make sure that the refractometer is probably calibrated, you surpose to use Distilled water to calibrate it and you need to make sure the temperature of the water is correct and not to cold. If you got the water straight out of you RO unit it maybe to cold to get a correct reading.

I would check it a # of times as 1.031 is pretty high for corals and you should see some a reaction from some of them. Also the hydrometers are usually off some but .005 is pretty far.
