I thought micro bubbles were bad now I have micro micro bubbles which are worse because it doesnt look like bubbles it just looks like your water isnt clear and its stiring up sand particles...but its not. Well it seems that most of these bubbles are coming from the overflow...i tired baffles well an attempt at baffles and it didnt do so well. Now i really dont wanna have to redo my sump again so any suggestions? |

I think a filter sock on the input line would stop the bubbles.

Microbubbles are typically an aesthetics issue. We go through alot to set-up our own slice of the ocean, only to have the view blurred by bubbles. Some also report on reefcentral that they also affect many softies when they accumulate under the coral. Dean |

How often do these filter socks have to be changed? Are you sure it will hold. Im running a mag 18 so I figure im getting about 1100 GPH, this is all coming down dual 2 inch pvc which merges into 1 then into the sump. It looks like niagra falls when it hits the sump, I was thinking of making it flow up ( using a elbow to make it go to the bottom of the sump then another one to m ake it exit at the top) You think I may have a possible back flow with this setup? |

DO NOT MAKE IT GO UP! You will regret that as it will increase the water in your overflow etc, and will decrease the flow. try having the water fall behind rock, use a filter pad/sock or get a bigger sump so you can baffle better ![]() House

The bubbles shouldn't matter in your sump. It's only when they hit the return pump that it matters. How are your baffles set up in your sump? I find I get Micro bubbles when my return section in my sump gets too low. The water splashes because it's falling farther than normal, and it pulls air into the pump. HTH BC

BTW, I put rubble in this section to avoid the drop creating the spplash and the bubbles House
