I just realized I have a ton of tube worms on my back glass.

The fish is pretty big. It's about 7 inches.

They are spirorbid worms ..technically.


Where did the fish come from - the ocean I am guessing?

You've got a Barred Flagtail - Kuhlia mugil. Big, fast, and voracious. If you've got a huge tank they'll school for you. About as reef safe as any large predator.

Thanks. I got the fish at a store, they had no idea what is was. It's from one of their maintenance customers. It grew to big for their tank and was crashing into the walls. It was to large and active for the stores tanks so they said I can have it for free.

get rid of it - it will outgrow your tank.

They look cool when they are small, but they will get really large

There isn't much information out about them. The only fourms I found that people had them were based out of Canada and South Africa. Are they hard to come by? How much do they cost?

If anyone sees any around I am looking to get between 4 and 6 of them depending on price. Does anyone know how much these usually go for?

I added him to my display today. He is am awesome fish, very active. It is a little messy only because I am in the middle of putting it back up back up and transfering everything equipment wise from my temp tank.

It does look like the tetra. I initially thought it was a local caught fish. It also looks like a African tiger fish or a small freshwater tarpon.
