It is recommended to be in 6 - 6 1/2 inches of water. I have mine at 6 1/2 inches and it sits on a 2 inch platform in my sump. I had Jeff at Custom King build me an acrylic platform that sits on the bottom of my sump and keeps the skimmer elevated. Egg crating will also work. You can call Jeremy at Coralvue tech support if there is another issue causing any problem.

Hey Wins - I had a small plastic round piece that restricted the flow into the pump slightly. That worked, but was probably not the best solution. I thought that was still in the pump inlet. The best way to fix the problem is to do what a few people have suggested, set it on a shelf (egg crate or something) so the water level is lower relative to the skimmer discharge. Call me if you have any problems -you have my cell#
