I've found that the high shipping cost is a trick to get around Ebay's fees. Ebay does not charge a fee on shipping cost. With a high shipping cost, people will bid lower. They pay less fee but still make up the difference in the shipping cost eventhough the final bid is lower.
Wish I could think up stuff like that!

That's very interesting. People try all kinds of things to get additional sales, without using ebay site and having to pay fees. Ebay wouldn't even let you post you website in your auction but a # of salers have gotten around it by listing their warranties on their site and once your on their site can find their other items.
