Your Copper Band Butterfly Experience

My CBB finished all the aptasia in my tank and eats mysis shrimp :D. It's doing very well. It's almost two weeks. It's fat and swimming out all the time, not hiding anymore. Came home yesterday, it was swimming happily back and forth. Looks awasome, after checking my tank for two minutes i realize my calm is dead :banghead:. The clam was in my tank for 2-3 months. Only new additions to my tank was one piece of zoo, lobo and my CBB. After observing my CBB, he looks fatter :banghead:. So i think my CBB had calm chower for lunch. :( Everything is good, so i had to blame the CBB. Anyone planning to get a CBB, becareful what he can do to your tank.

What eLse does that thing eat? ...am concerned of starVing the one i am getting from Deep... :(

Feather dusters..... it'll clean it up first, then aptasia if you are lucky, and maybe your invertibrate.....my clam became his lunch. Hopefully it won't touch my shrimp.

sam,

sorry to hear that, hope it will keep taking the mysis.

Peter

Thanks, if chowing down my calm gives him the opportunity to survive the long run. I guess i'll sacrifice my clam. :(

Oh, would be best to have no other first in the tank to start with. It's a better survival rate for the CBB, but not necessary. Fishes that's already in the tank will bother/frighten the CBB for sure. My damsel and sebea clown chases after my CBB sometimes. It hided in the rock work for the first entire week. After getting use to the tank, it finally came out, but still gets boss around by my other fish.

What fishes do you have in your tank?

My tangs beat the crap out of my CBB! I think you might be ok as long as it isnt the dominant fish in the tank. I would also watch out if you have any anemones (that you want) as they might go after that. I also found that my CBB liked to eat zooplankton.

Best of luck!

Beyondnp,

How long has it been in your tank?
Yeah, i have to agree with you on the tang, my yellow tang was chasing after him, as if he kill his whole family.

It hasn't touch my green carpet and bubble tip annemone yet. Gonna get some zooplankton for his diet. Thanks
