I was wondering now that my stand is built and my tank is up and running I have my canopy to do. My question is how do you all mount the MH into your canopys seeing how they get hot can i just screw them right into the top peice of wood or do I have to put something inbetween the spyder reflector and the top peice of wood in order for it not to heat up and burn?
Thanks

Its always a good idea to have smaller blocks of wood between the reflectors and the canopy. Also Have a fan on either side of the canopy. One for input and the other for output. This aids in the cooling of the lights as well as cooling the surface temp of the water.

I used two 3/8" nuts between my mh housing and my canopy. Lots of airflow can get between. If you're just going from the reflector, I'd put as big of a SS washer you can find on the reflector side.
