Hello. Just wanted to get info on the Tunze Pumps. I have an Ocean 120g reef tank. I have had the tank running for 3 years and I have been playing with the return jets to get good current. The tank has an aqua space light w/dbl ended metal Halides. I have a mixture of soft and hard corals. I purchased a very in-expensive wave maker, which basically looks like a plug bar with outlets that alternates electrical current allowing me to use two small pumps for extra water movement. However, this did not seem to work as my corals for some reason, especially the acro's are not getting sufficient current to promote growth. Also, it seems that these pumps just dart the water to one direction due to the small opening that some of the fish and coral appear as if they get smacked all of the sudden by the alternating jets. So needless to say I purchased a Tunze pump, a controller, and a night operating device that lowers the current when the lights go out. I am interested in learning people's experience with the Tunze pumps before I install them. Also, any idea where it is best to place them inside the tank would be great. Thank you very much!

You definitely purchased the right pump. They dont get any better than tunze. Most powerheads produce a concentrated thin jet which does not really do much in terms of movement whereas the tunze streams produce a "calm" but very wide current which in turn really moves the water.

Depending on which Tunze model you got the placement will be different. Please specify.

the magnets while expensive are worth it and the including mounting bracket it crap.

i would place it towards the top of the tank to maintain surface agitation and to keep the most flow towards the surface (as in the real ocean).

which model did you get?

oh, and i never bothered with that photocell. at night the pH usually drops due to decreased oxygen in the water (without photosynthesis), the extra flow will help keep the water oxygenated.

Alrha - I purchased the Turbelle Stream 6000 + Singlecontroller 7091, in addition to the photo cell. Also, I just placed an order for the magnet holder, as it seems that everyone recommends it. Thanks for the imput!!
