Ultimately Id say let test results dictate your course. a very old but so often ignored rule of successful reefkeeping....dont add what you cant test for.

On the iodine side of things, ive found D-D H20 salt to come out bang on the mark with iodine so if your doing regular water changes, you may find that its not an issue when using this salt.

Potassium, ive never dosed to be honest and never had any experiences that could be directly attributable. As far as i'm aware this has only recently become a relevant subject with those using ULNS or bacterially boosted systems. (from what i can make out) with more standardised systems not being affected so much.

But as above, let testing show you the way, and avoid artificially elevated levels if you want an easy life. There is alot of info out there with anecdotal evidence on the benefits of elevated levels for just about every element we can currently test for, but very little proven evidence that will apply in all cases to all stock..generally, letting nature lead the way is imo usually the best course of action when it comes to what your levels should be.

Regards

Simon.

As said before test your levels then dose if needed. I found that my frequent water changes made dosing of these elements uneccasary. Furthermore if test comes up deficient dosing is better done on a small daily basis as opposed to larger weekly ones.
