I dont like to skim wet cause my collection cup is about .75 gallon and I cant use overflows.

Second thing is that when you skim wet you are taking out a lot of saltwater and auto top off adds RODI water. Messes with the salinity. As far as I am concerned its just one more thing to do each day.

But then again, I am quite lazy and that is my excuse. I cant say which is better for your tank as long as all the crap comes out its all good.

One good thing about wet skimming is that the skimmer neck stays clean and when you skim dry you get alot of gunk buildup that makes the skimmer not work as well. I personally clean that everyday.

With most skimmers you can set it to either skim wetter or dryer. Dry skimmate is dark, thick and smells absolutely foul. (Concentrated Skimmate) Wet skimmate is basically dark skimmate with more saltwater. It takes much longer to produce dry skimmate.
