Hey all;

Just wanted to get some advice and see what other insurance companies are covering as far as incidental damage from running an aquarium.

Got off the phone with Lib. Mutual and what they told me leaves me with some concerns.

They basically said that any incidental damage caused by the fish tank e.g. product malfunction or negligence on the part of the owner for maintenance is not covered.

Anybody out there with an insurance rider that coveres incidental damage caused by your fish tank.

I got a policy from Met that covers it.

i have renters insurance from allstate and they said that if it was accidental they would cover it. the agent pretty much told me that if a fishtank in my house broke NOT due to my negligence and if it was just running the way it should have, and it breaks for whatever reason, then i'm covered. We'll just have to see when it actually does happen though.

I could see them not covering you for your negligence. However, the insurance should cover damage to your home if there is accidental damage to your property from the tank. I guess I should be shopping insurance companies.

What if your house has faulty wiring? I guess you are liable to fix that.

thanks guys. I checked with another agent and basically damage would be covered as saucz indicated. Liberty Mutual will not place a rider or addendum specifically for an aquarium in your policy.

We'll just have to see when it actually does happen though.

Pls dont wait for something like this to happen ,not a good thing to wish for .Im not sre but not every tank is going to break open .I hope , :bigeyes2:
