When to add sand?

I am planning on going DSB on my 58. Now, when is the best time to add the sand? Someone mentioned to wait until the LR cycles so to make it easier to clean the waste from the LR, from the bottom of the tank.

Also, what was the recommended amount of sand? 1 or 2 lbs per gallon?

u can put as little or as much sand in as u'd like, its up to ur personal preference. My opinion is

add water, mix salt wait 24hrs for it to dissolve.

add sand wait for it to settle, then place ur LR in and wait for ur cycle to finish.

if ur salt water is mixed in a container and not ur tank, place the sand in, cover it will a new/clean garbage bag and pump the water in. Then place ur LR in

I say add your sand first, to avoid a sand storm by putting it in the tank at a later time. Get your sand into the tank without any water, then throw the garbage bag over, just like drunk said.
