I know this is flammable topic but gosh darn it, its a real one!

How many times have you looked at tank pics and you go man that thing is hideous! Bryopsis, Cyano, Diatoms, brown corals, dime a dozen fish.

Then you look at how long its been running, 2, 4, 6 YEARS! How could you look at that for that long? :shocked1:

Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder? Do you not notice the tufts of overwhelming algae? the lack of color? no imagination

Chalk it up to my perfectionist side:banghead:, but I feel your reef is an extension of your creativity, style, of course husbandry, but moreover the participation in your own version of the picturesque little reef window into a dwindling nature we call our tanks.

feel free to comment

Good one Rich! :) Tank envy or skimmer envy? :) I enjoy the uniqueness of every reef tank I visit.

how unique can pest algae be? Im talking about tanks that (whether or not you like them) make you say WHoa! thats different!

I don't know, that first tank is kind of gaudy, all those different colors mixed together, kind of pretentious. and that big solid wall of coral is so 90's.

I like the second one. it's got some awesome aquascaping.

Herman you can find them in the SPS forum in RC, look up the "tank idol" thread.
