I was thinking of getting the Deltec Turbo 1250 and wanted to see if anyone out there has experience with this model or could suggest an alternative (other than an ASM).

This Deltec is basically an in sump skimmer and I think equivalent in peformance to the AP 600 or APH525.

The skimmer would be used initially for my 70 and then for the 120 once I set that up.

I'll check RC as I know they have a thread dedicated to Deltec.

You may want to consider the Tunze DOC Skimmers.

The Turbo 1250 ($586) is rated at:
200 gal normal stocking
21 watts
Air 480 l/h
10.25"x5"x21.25"

by comparison, the new Tunze Comline DOC 9015 ($427) is:
396 gal
21 watts
Air 650 l/h
4.9"x4.4"x18.8"

looking at the numbers alone, it seems that the Tunze 9015 is rated for a larger capacity, injects more air, and is less than half the size as the Deltec 1250. On top of that, it is almost 30%cheaper. Be aware the 1250 includes a media chamber.

Albert:

Thanks for your input. How's your Tunze running? I did like the idea of a media chamber for the 1250 but definitely not worth it.

I'll have to check your thread on the skimmer.
