How many people have their lights set for 2 photo periods?
Also if you do have you noticed any difference in behavior from your tank's inhabitants? (difference between 1 & 2 photo periods)

I never thought about it, very interesting.
BTW, I know someone in this board only run MH for 2 hours with great SPS growth and very nice and deep color.

Who's that? ;)

I never tried running 2 photoperiods in one day. Can you "trick" the coral into thinking its 2 different days with 2 days of growth daily? hmm....someone try it and let me know ;) :D

If you mean running two photoperiods from the sump and main tank, then I do.

I have my 30 gallon sump, if you can call it that, on the opposite photoperiod from the main tank. I have never seen a problem, it helps me keep the pH stable, grow macroalgae, have an emergency source of water, keep some inhabitants away from others, and not need a heater since the lights heat cover the tanks temp.

I meant in the main display tank, for example w/in a 24hr period you have it come on for 3hrs here and another 4hrs there.

I was wondering if this photo period might be harmful in any way.
