Home Depot products...where are they?

I went to the home depot & asked for egg crate. I was given the wierdest looks, as if I was speaking another language. Where exactly would this egg crate be stored/placed at the local home depot?

I did find something that looks like crate at the lighting section. It was basically a lighting diffuser. Is this the infamous object? Good enough to put in a reef tank?

Also, I was looking for some epoxy. This time given confident faces that simply said, sorry we ran out. Looking for one of these:
-Envirotex Lite
-Famowood High Gloss Epoxy

Basically trying to make up a BB w/epoxy sand bed. Has anyone done this yet? Can you recommend a product? Where can I buy & how much.

Yes, most definitely have seen that thread, it's my driving inspiration.

Actually I was speaking to this one guy back in 1995 about his salt tank & it turns out that he was having great success with a fish only bare bottom tank. That is just tank & water, no substrate at all! I also looked at the LFS, who also had their salt water tanks with just glass & water. It all made sense. Only problem was that I did not like the all glass look & did not want to risk any synthetic solid substrates. Now that I have seen others doing it, gives me a push.

If it's not too late. The plastic stores on Canal street sell the plastic grates. They are usually full peices (2'x4') I'm not sure if they have smaller peices. And I know that Pearl Paint Art Store, also on Canal Street, stocks the Envirotex. I used it on a small project last year. It's as hard as a rock when it's cured.

Egg crate is 'Light difuser panels for drop ceilings'

Ask where the ceiling tiles are and you'll find the egg crate.

At industrial plastics, you can buy plastic casting resin. I've thought about molding some into rockwork, Since we all know that coraline grows on plastic so well, it would look like real rock before too long.I was actually thinking about using it as a 'rock like' overflow.

You might be able to cast a batch that would resemble the 'dunes' of the sand bottom. Then epoxy sand to the plastic.
