ok so im still undecided about my upgrade its still btween a 120 (48x24)
and a 125 (72x18)

so let assume ill be going with the 120 which lighting do you guys think will be better.
i hear you need 1 halide per 2 feet of tank, but here are the two options, of been offered in terms of retrofits.
either:
2x250 SE.....probeblly ill run hamilton 14k's or sumthing like that.
or
1x400 MH and 2x110 VHO

So basiclly one will have more light, but be more centerd, and the other will be i guess more evnnlly distributed, in tems of the halides, but less light.

this is a softie Lps tank, but will soon have SPS in there high up.
let me know what you folks think

Joe,

I would go with the dual 250's - both of those tanks are stock 24 tall, so, 250's would work. You might want to consider using 3 instead of 2 though.

I don't think 400's are worth the cost to run them and the cost to kool the tank for th heat they generate.

You should look to do a dual 250 kit and a 4 foot VHO kit and later, when you go harder SPS, as a single 250 retro kit.
