havent stopped by yet, but i guess i should. i usually order online (cheaper) but if his prices are comparable, then its always nicer to help support a LFS and be able to buy the small thing here and there rather than having to wait till your next big order to save shipping costs.

I just back from Pat's store. It's a nice set up. He's got a lot of stuff packed into a small space. He was between shipments now, so there was not a lot of coral to look at, but what he had looked healthy. There was not one piece that I would not have bought, so that's saying something. The fish he has also look okay. His prices are reasonalble as well. I think after you factor in the shipping his prices are equal to mail order. Plus you get to see what your buying. I got a 3.5" clam for 42.00 clams

I think it's a squamosa, I did not ask, I have to check and make sure. I also bought an emerald crab to add to the three I have already. They do a great job eating the algae, the crab was 10.00. I'll be going back. I'd rather travel out to brooklyn for half an hour, than go uptown a few minutes and spend money at new world. I'll post pic's of the clam soon.

Pat, IMO your rude, im in the process of setting up another tank, a 90 gal, and was going to leave a deposit on a Deltec APH 525 skimmer and buy the tank there. the skimmers are reasonably priced.
The pumps were highly overpriced, along with other items. The only time i will spend money there is during his going out of business sale. I think www.fishtankmaintenance.com/ on 33st in NYC is much better. This is JMO.
Pat, Im glad to see some people are happy with you.
like i said when i walked out Good Luck!
You sound utterly clueless. How the heck is someone going to know what kind of corals they will be stocking? Do corals grow on trees? You are the mercy of your suppliers. You order 3 brain corals and you get two hammers and a plate. It is cutomers like you that piss off retail people and MAKE then rude.

First they don't have to bring in the coral directly themselves, he could go to a wholesaler or a transhipper and pick out what he wants, That what Joe at www.fishtankmaintenance.com does and so do other places. Also they should have an idea on what they're going to be carrying in the future otherwise they wouldn't have the proper setup to handle the corals.

and if he goes to a wholesaler then you'll be paying a hell of a lot more for your corals. and he STILL won't know what kind of corals he could be getting.

its a terrible question. "What corals will you be carrying in the future?" What kind of corals do you THINK he'll be carrying? Anything he can get his freakin' hands on.

Posted by Rich on the 1st page "Everything is going to be run by high end deltec equipment." and "the owner has an amazing 240gal SPS system in his home. He knows what he is doing and everything should be top notch."
After reading this and seeing his system, i was hoping he will stock some of his personal frags, tridacnid clams, anemones. You can see the system was not set up for anything he could get his hands on, Thats why i asked that "terrible" question.

FWIW, it wasn't my question that "pissed" him off.

So he going to pay more for his corals, yeah so. But on the flip side he get to cherry pick on corals, which he should be able to charge more for. Also he could fine rare corals and have the wholesaler looking out for stuff for him. As for "STILL not knowing what kind of corals he getting" he actually going to the wholesaler and picking them himselves. If at that point he doesn't know why he getting then he should be in business. And yes he will be at the mercess of the wholesaler but there are more then one wholesaler in the area and he could still import something directly.

Hey Zen,

When you post here act like you are standing in front of that person. Personal attacks are not warranted for whatever Yessongs posted. For all of that just let it go. His was a personal experience that he voiced his opinion on. I had already made all of your points clear in my post. Out of everything I like most on this site is that we all seem to get along pretty well and I would like to keep it that way. If you just want to disrespect someone dont do it here.
