Each discussion forum now has its own RSS feed. If you want to subscribe, go to the home of the forum you want and look for the orange feed icon in the top right hand corner. If you click on this icon you will be given the RSS XML feed. Putting this URL into your RSS software will allow you to receive instant notification when there is a new post in that forum.

If you don't know what RSS is, but you want to get instant notification of new topics posted to MR, you can install the Yahoo Widget engine and then download the MR custom module in this thread:
http://www.manhattanreefs.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4294

A screenshot of the icon's location is attached.

yes you do. Some browsers have rss built in. Firefox, Safari has them. You can also get widgets for konfabulator and dashboard that can pick up feeds.

Hmm, ok. I use Winxp, with Konfabulator/yahoo, and I have the MR widget.
On my mac, I HAD OS X Tiger, but I re-installed with a damaged disk, now I have 10.3 with no dashboard :( ....I need a good copy of 10.4 to get back to Tiger.

So, I don't need the RSS for the MR since I have the widget, but for other RSS feeds if I want them, I need the reader.
Does Internet Explorer include it? I have Firefox, too.

The widget is an RSS reader. My bad - not firefow but Thunderbird will read RSS as will Safari. If you want an open source RSS reader shoot me a PM with your email address and I will send you one for Konfabulator.

IE doe not. The next generation will do it. With Firefox, I am sure you can get extensions to get RSS. Go to tools - extensions - and hit get more extensions. That will take you to a site with thousands of plugins.
