I was changing some plumbing on a 400 gal. and noticed that one of the BH had a slight crack in it. The problem is that it located about a foot off the bottom of the tank on the back wall. I have a plug in it now to hold the water out. My question is can I do a quick swap out without taking out 300gal. of water? Will the presure be too much with a swap like that? I am thinking of maybe taking out about 150gal to relieve some preasure. Thanks in advance......Tim

you can make a box out of Plexiglas 3 sides and bottom and use a bead of silicon on the edge to make a seal ,make it large enough to go over bulkhead and get your hand in there to change it and tall enough to go above the water place it over bulk head have someone hold it in place and change the bh,I have this a couple of times already

what you can do also place box over bh then place a small pump in box and pump water out the water presser in tank would keep box in place while you replace bh but have someone hold it in place also

You can get one of those rubbermaid Drawer organizers and cut one end off and place it where the bulkhead is and that way you can work on the bulkhead and keep the water out. Some of it is going to come out though. Just be aware of that.

So, yep Fry's idea will work maybe...
