I have recently transferred all my corals from my doomed downstairs DSB tank to my new bare bottom upstairs tank. I have noticed a marked improvement in everything especially the colour of the corals. The only exception is my orange cap, its very pale and doesnt seem to want to colour up. is there anything in particular that i should be taking into consideration or looking out for? Everything else, including my other cap is colouring up well and i have pretty good polyp extension on everything, i just feel like maybe i'm not thinking of something, any suggestions?

Aaron are you giving it more light? Maybe you're bleaching it? SPS also seem to fade in color and slime when stressed i.e. fragging and handling etc.

No, no more light really. I moved it from a dual 175W 70Gal tank to a single 175WMH 36gal. The frustrating thing is that everything else in the tank is doing so well, colour wise (all were recently moved to the new set up.)

Hmm...Are the water parms the same? A big alk change would have an effect like this to your cap (but other acros would be effected also)

Check to make sure it is not being stung, aptasia, lps etc...

Check for monti nudis and bugs

A pic would help a lot :)

it isnt a quick degeneration, more a very slow lightening over the last few months. I'm pretty sure the initial colour loss was from the old nutrient rich tank, but while everything else has come back in the new tank this cap has continued to fade.
I would say water Parms are better and more stable the the old tank, maybe there is a higher alk level than its previous home as i have been a little more regular with dosing kalk.
