i am about to set up my CA reactor. DO I need a PH controller, I have a aquca controller with a PH funtion.. do I need a specail one for the reactor? or the tank should have on and the reactor the next...

You need to measure the pH of the effulent, just to get your reactor set and going. But once you have it stabilized you don't need to continuously monitor it. I just monitor my tanks pH with a controller, any changers in the tanks pH would indicate that something is going wrong with the reactor.

For a reactor to begin the process of breaking down CaCO3 to Ca and carbonate you need a pH below 7.0 inside the reactor. You have to adjust the CO2 injection rate to accommodate that. Some people do have a pH controller connected to the solenoid in case of pH changes (emergency shut off). That is another good way to go.
