for a 6 g nano i wouldn t bother w/ a UV, do more water changes and use better water, like i said before distilled water is a lil more pure then our south jersey tap- A UV isn't worth the money for such a small tank. It will help w/ some algae, and clean the water up- but u'll see it more effective in larger situations-

edit: on edit, didnt notice the link, for 20 bucks i guess u can give it a try-- lol... thought u were gonna get a big boy like i have for my 120 :)

UVs don't remove nutrients. They kill algae and bacteria or damage their cell walls enough that the can't reproduce. Eitherway the nutrients go back in the tank so you can remove them via some other form of export. I have a UV on my tank.

For a 6g, just use bottled water. It will cost you what like $7 bucks to get started?

There's a bunch of stuff that will go in your tank from the tap, phosphates being one of them. Once that stuff gets in, you have to work to get it out. BTW, pure water looks blue, so if the water ain't looking blue it has something in it.

Go ahead and get it, it will work great as a heater in your nano too. Your water will be plankton free and the algea will love the additional nutrient from all the dead plankton.

Why won't you want to do things the "better" way?
