chaeto usually doesnt go sexual as much as the little pubes get into ur main tank, a fog of green doesnt sound like a macro algae problem as much as a micro problem, what r ur params? UV kills things but w/o a good skimmer its not exiting the tank

hehe..yea you guys are so much better then any other forums..like flaming here would be like...please change your tap water :)...anyway this is my/ friend's 30 gallon tank..the strange thing is my 2.5 has cleared up instantly when i change to distill water...it looked liked a member who's tank recently cleared up..i forgot the name..but the water was green and merky...so we are going to split the cost of a remora...lol..he owns half of the tank...kind of intresting....anyway..we are thinking about UV....the tank has been up for around a month..we have 2 150 MH 10K bulbs on it..this is the one the carpet is in...i was kind of worried but i guess the light is still penetrating throught the merky water..it looks happy... aka he owns all the coral and i just own the carpet and clowns..

One month old.....your tank is still in it's cycle mode. It is very much a new tank. And like you said, you were using tap water initially. Things will get better once you start skimming it too. You are definitely moving in the right direction.

I would hold off on adding ANY new livestock for awhile though. A carpet in a tank only one month old could be the cause of your green water problem too.

Take things slow.

lighting cant cause an outbreak unless the nutrients there to fuel it ;) just keep up the husbandry and everything should stabilize otherwise pics and a full run-by of the tank specs:D

Russ is right though take it slow,

Think of reefing like being with a woman, you take it slow and keep everything stable, and once everything is happy and growing, you sell her growth to your reef buddies, eermmm...uh yeahh..lol
