I was a beta tester for vista, been using it for about a year and a half.. and other than having to use it to maintain tester status... I did not use it. I recently disabled so many things in vista I got it looking like windows 2000/nt and running faster than Xp...But I might as well just have Xp for the comfort.

As per my original post, if you are running Vista, install SP1 as it makes everything run a lot smoother and faster. I run Leopard too and thats not much better (damn MS & Apple). |

i thought that you cant have more than 3 gigs of ram running on xp (it just wont use it), when vista is much higher than that.... so yeah, vista may steal 512 megs of ram, but when you are running 6 gigs of ram, you kinda forget that you are wasting those 512 megs... I havent put it on my big machine yet, gonna wait for the first service pack. Untill then my extra 3 gigs of ram are gonna just chill till i upgrade.

Believe it or not, vista has some limitations on ram too. The 32bit versions can take up to 4gb, but will likely recognize only 3-3.5gb The difference is observed with x64 versions. They can range from 8gb to 128gb on vista ultimate. I tried their readyboost thing, didn't really see much of a difference. |
