Let us not forget the Mets are not perfect angels either. Kazmir for Zambrano. And personally I think they gave up too quick on Milledge even though Schneider has been pretty decent. But I do like the Gomez Santana deal. What would be nice to see is them making a run for Fuentes as soon as he gets put on the waivers. But thats almost a long shot.

We also shouldnt throw Cashman under the bus. I do beleive the Tampa office interfered the past few years and George got championship greedy to the point that he pretty much played a major hand in destroying the team and putting it on its current course.

We mentioned A-Rod as a bad signing but if you go back and look at the deal picking him up was smart because Texas was tied up so much in his contract. Dont forget the Yankees were only paying about 10% of his massive deal until he opted out last year. Now Texas is off the hook and its now on the Yanks payroll. But the Yanks got A-Rod for 3-4 years for next to nothing.

hey george great post. i agree. i dont hate the mets. i am the 1st to criticize my yankees as well. the mets have made great strides with what they are doing. who wouldnt love the santana deal? also believe it or not wagner was a great signing as well. they finally brought some up through there own system in reyes and wright(classy guy, met him). omar minaya is a good GM IMHO. i thought when he traded ana benson, i was really impressed. he has made his fair share of bad things as well. just like cashman. dont get me wrong.

but cashman is horrendous when it comes to pitching and this is the reason why i think cashman should step aside. his track record is horrible, whats worse is if you count the money he has spent on it as well. the arod thing was a good signing. the one thing cashman is doing well is restocking the farm system. and he needs to continue doing so.

what he should do is hire someone to investigate pitching. most natably any1 who can beat the red sox or angels. those are the 2 teams that we are in competition for. so for expample. i hear a lot of people say go get sabathia. i say dont. his track record against the red sox is horrendous. he also doesnt fair that much better against the angels. so why spend that money there? go after burnett who will be hurt approx. 1/4 the season. but hey he comes cheap. we also have to give up on the moose thing. we have $80 mil coming off the books next year. not including pudge. i say we go after texiera, keep abreu. then look into pitching. why they passed on santana was retarded.

the mets well they need to get a bullpen and 1 or 2 quality pitchers. then a 1st basemen.

oh i and i would defineately be interested in fantasy football. but it would be for fun chief. Wink, Wink!!
