Reefer Ratings: (18 (100%) Friends: (41) | 56th Street Mural Project/"Another Man's Tresure"
Hello Everybody! David and I will be performing this Saturday at 424 West 56th Street to celebrate the completion of their new mural and would like to cordially invite all of you to come and join us. This is a spectacular piece of public art that extends 135 feet across and covers a total of 1,620 square feet. The mural depicts a large string instrument; the strings extend from one end of the mural to the other, and enmesh planet Earth along with other local and cosmic phenomena. The image can be seen as a metaphor representing universal harmony, the music of the spheres etc. This extraordinary art work must be experienced in person in order to enjoy the full scope of it’s conception and execution : it’s vivid colors and powerful imagery. The work was created by Christopher James Kull. In conjunction with the 56 st mural project we are celebrating the opening of the “Another Man’s Treasure” sculpture garden. Located in the courtyards of 420,422 and 424 West 56 street, directly across the street from the mural. Access to the couryard is at 424 West 56 Street. This installation is composed of found objects (refuse) that have been repurposed as sculptural assemblages. This project has been three years in the making. While David Scalza and James Garland have been the principal artists, friends and neighbors have also made contributions. There is also a stage for performance ( singing ,dancing, acting and more) and a video projector to screen pre-recorded footage. These two works of art will form part of Hell’s Kitchen open studios tour. http://www.artistsinthekitchen.org/ Please come and join us on Saturday, September 19 Th, from 2 PM to 9PM. Date: Sept 19 Th Time: 2 PM to 9 PM** Place: 424 West 56 Street **David and I will be performing in the "Sculpture Garden" from 5PM to 6:30PM** Refreshments will be served and there is NO ADMISSION FEE!! It's a completely FREE event ![]() Hope to see you all there!! ![]() Last edited by sakura51707; 09-15-2009 at 01:59 PM.. | ||||
