Eisenhower park isnt bad- call them and get a spot- plenty of parking right near the spots you get and they have last time I was ther plenty of the park supplied permanent bbq's and you can bring your own also and is also close literally within 1/4 mile of the meadowbrook parkway.

They have safety town with the little cars for the kids to drive and learn road safety and theres an indoor pool as well as a driving range, and a pond.

Spruce Run in Clifton, NJ is very nice - they have a big lake and BBQ facilities - here is the link and have a great time.

Spruce Park is actually in Clinton, NJ. If you're out by Clinton, there's also Round Valley Park; about 5-10 mins before Spruce Run if you're going from NYC. Be sure to check out one of Stewart's Root Beer stand if you're there... down the road from Round Valley. Many farmers markets as well...

I checked the Round Valley already, But I think still Spruce Run is a nicer place.. IF I do go to Spruce Run, maybe I can stop by the farmers markets on my way back to NYC. Where is the farmers markets anyway?

Thanks

I would check out Sunken Meadow Park I have held BBQs and get together there in the past with no reservations and had a good time.

They have a picnic area to BBQ near a playground for the kids, softball fields and open grass areas to set up a volleyball court or play some soccer. To top it off, you can walk to the beach from the picnic area.

Hope that helps . . good luck
