Snail loosing its shell

Can some 1 explain why a snails shell is almost detached from the snail itself but the snail is alive and the shell is still attached???

i think its asto but i was told its turbo

stormella snails will ejext their shells when they sense a predator, like some lizards loosing their tail.

It'll grow back.
