A little sympathy please :-(

I went away for 5 days. I came home to a tank FILLED with hair algae and diatoms. VERY ugly. I have been cycling my tank for 2 weeks and nitrites are still through the roof. Poor me!!!

Have to wait for tank to cylcle before cleaning crew can do their thing. In the meantime, very little light for the tank, skimmer skimming and lots of glass cleaning. Guess I will not have to worry about my eventual snails starving .

Some water changes and large turbos from fishtown should help. I find keeping the water at the cooler end also reduces the rate they grow.
Did you test for No3 and Phasphate?
It's very normal for a new tank to go thru an algae bloom.. No sympathy needed.

it's your algae cycles we all go through it just like being a teenager and it sucks just like Tony said. Just wait for the cyno to start, it's worse than acne
