Just set up my sump & filled my tank up with fresh water to test it. It works but I have 2 problems; 1. The strainer on the overflow is making a horific 'SUCKING SOUND. 2. The water going into the sump is also making a loud noise. The overflow pipe is about 6" from the water level. Should it go into the water??? I have 90 gal Aquarium, 30 gal sump, Mag 9 pump. |

What kind of overflow are you using. Id recommend a durso they are near silent. Also you can submerge the exit of the drain pipe to reduce the splashing sound. Matt

I do not have an overflow box, my tank is drilled near the top and I have a 1" bulkhead. inside the tank I have an elbow with a cone shaped strainer. I planned on moving the angle of the elbow, to adjust the water level?? |

Ok does it look like this. The piece off the back is an external durso, It makes the drain quiet without that, with just an elbow you drain will always make that loud sucking sound

Reefer Ratings: (42) Friends: (7) | http://www.dursostandpipes.com/Build...4/Default.aspx Except for an external #8 just use another piece of pvc to connect it to you bulkhead #1-5 you don't need for an external just use a union and spa flex tubing I have enough supplies left to make one for you if you'd like im in zip 11050 it would fit a 1" bulkhead

Thank you so much for the info, Kinda far to travel to you But REALLY apprecaite the offer. It seems simple enough to make, I will give it a try. The link you have says to put a small hole in the end cap, Looks like you have a valve?? THANKS AGAIN! |

Yea i actually removed the valve and have a piece of 3/8" tubing in there instead, it wasn't able to get enough air before and was gurgling. As for making them its a piece of cake exactly what the drawing shows minus the parts i mentioned. Good Luck

i actually drill a hole straight through my endcap and the pipe. I also don't glue the cap on. You can adjust the amount of air by twisting the cap and partially closing the hole. B
