Could weekly water changes be problematic?

I never miss a weekly water change, and have recently been wondering if my consistant wc's is adding to a cpl parametric issues

1) calcium >450 (490-500 on salifer, AP, and instant ocean)
2) NO CORALINE ALGAE ON BACK GLASS! (BTW no phosphates, on salifert, AP, and instant ocean test, barely any green algae.
3) My ALK was around 2.5 mEq/l but now 3.5 mEq/l have been adding Alk part of 2 part esv, overall cal/alk ratio just doesnt seem correct

Could the coralife salt be excessively high in calcium and disrupting normal cycle?

Thanks for the link Deanos! I promise to read it once I get my coffee.
I also do weekly w/c, but I use IO salt. Never saw any negative stuff happening from such pratice. Yet when I was unable to do them when I broke my foot I did see, and I'm still seeing a few of my corals (namely chalices & favias) suffering a decline.;( Just thought I'd share that...

Great read!! On my third tank and def have learned that regular water changes are the way to go...

I use I/O as well but used to use Oceanic, the only difference I have been able to notice is my levels are more consistent/stable now with I/O where as with Oceanic my calcium was always very high (which ironically could be the cause of why i never had any good coralline growth) as for my tank now with I/O its all over my equipment/rocks just not the glass ...

Switch to a better salt which will give you stable Cal and Mag and Alk like Seachem reef.

Thanks guys, Im currently using coralife and Im pretty sure this is the culprit, because Water changes should bring levels close to normal, however my changes seem to throw it off indicating a possible imbalance from the source

loismustdie's tank looked it's best and had the highest rate of growth when he was changing 15% of his water daily and running no skimmer.
