Hahha someone just ask me that.. and no.. How stupid am I.. huh.. So then One pump is good??? Just from tank water to pump to chiller.. and from chiller hose to tank.. is that correct?? Since I have a Ehiem 1262 sitting here, can I use that one?? Or is that too strong? I have a 30 finnex tank...

Thanks

you can calculate how strong of a pump you need with this.

Did you buy this new or used?
Here is the manual in case you haven't seen it..
http://www.current-usa.com/files/Pri...llerManual.pdf

If you have a sump, you want to put the pump in there and hook it to the 'in' port on the chiller (make sure you attach it to the chiller using a hose clamp).
Then you'd attach another hose from the 'out' port on the chiller (using a second hose clamp)and put that into another area in your sump (preferrably in an area past the intake so that you are not trying to cool off the same water).

Your chiller requires a flow rate of 420 to 720 gph..so you need a pump that will provide that taking the 'head loss' into consideration.

My biggest question is ..why are you setting it at 74?????????
If your tank is at 80..that's just fine

..and please read the instructions..you need to see that letter 'd' come up so that you know you have it set correctly!

I got it as brand new.. And I read the instruction also.. Didn't tell you how to connect it.. Especially for a newbie like me..
I don't have a sump.. Mine is just a 30 gallon finnex tank.. And most people tell me to set it on 80..
And also, when I press the set buttom for 10 second... I don't see a D, all I see is 0 which I can set that from 1 to 4...

Ok..no sump..put the end of the hose that has the cooled water near a power head so that that water circulates into your tank as quickly as possible. You don't want to make you fish chilly!

You need to follow the instructions in order..
Quote:
CHILLER TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT
1. Plug the chiller into the GFCI protected outlet. The power switch will come on and the digital controller with display the actual water temperature. The "POWER" light will illuminate.
2. Press "SET" to set the desired temperature. Press > to increase temperature and press < to decrease temperature. The default temperature differential is 2°F, therefore the chiller will begin to operate at a temperature that is 2°F less than the actual water temperature.
3. The digital display will resume showing the water temperature after a 5 second delay. The chiller will then enter a delayed start-up mode, which lasts 2-3 minutes, after which will begin normal operation.
4. Setting the temperature differential (Model :
a) Press "SET" for ten seconds. The letter "d" will jump on the digital display indicating that the adjusting function is in a ready state.
b) Press the > or < to adjust the starting temperature differential. The differential can be adjusted from 2°F to 3°F or 4°F.
-you need to do Step # 2 (do you know what temp you want to set this at?..maybe 79 since your tank is at 80 now?)
-after that wait the 2-3 minutes that it says in Step 3
-onto Step #4 - be sure to hold it for 10 seconds. I have my chiller (not the same kind but it sets up the same way) for 2 degrees of differential.

Don't worry if it doesn't seem to be doing anything right away. If the temp in the tank is within 2 degrees of your desired temp, it won't do anything
Also be SURE that the back of the unit has plently of clearance around it to push out the heat it creates. That is VERY important!

Did you figure out the 'head loss' on the Eheim pump you want to use?

..and I totally agree, not one picture in that 'manual'..leaves a lot to be desired!!

If u have an AC at home or in ur apartment leave it on energy save and have a fan blow on it. That's ur best bet because the chiller will blow hot air just like an AC so it will make ur residence pretty warm and u don't want it to be warm if u live in ny with this heat wave we had. I too have a 30 gallon and debated on getting a chiller til someone talked me out of it and just running my AC a little longer then usual and I must say it has worked like a charm.
