Will you be using menthanol?? Hopefully so, because if not, you run the risk of crashing your system... When the nitrates in you system finally get down to 0 .. The bacteria that cycles the nitrate down to 0 will starve and die,, Causing a nitrate spike... This is the reason most people shun the idea of denitrifiers...
With methanol you can tailor the dosage and never have to worry about this bacteria starving but rather not reproducing as fast.... Allowing you to keep it going rather than shutting it down like most denitrators don't tell you about...
There are other benefits to using methanol also... The process that cycles nitrates down to 0 every 4 hours will also give off trace elements that your tank needs... This is why I do so little water changes and don't dose trace elements..(I do use a calcium reactor with dolomite in it though)..
I'll explain more saturday...

so not true bob, i have been waiting a year to build this following 5 different threads on different site's where people have built them using the same method i have, as well as 99% of the companies that make them dont use ethanal, and some you can use sugar or alcohol, here's a few articles for you to read

http://www.aquaripure.com/index.htm
here's a good article to read also

Yes, I am well aware of the other options for getting good bacteria drunk and ready,,lol..
The option that is not good would be sulfur based denitrators... They build up sulfur after a while... And my plan for a denitrifier was what this one claims to do no water changes... While I do some water changes It's not every week, or month, or 2 months, or 3 months some times...,,lol Only bloom I had was a self induced bloom that I planned to feed the tangs naturally... While this was a beautiful thing for self feeding and getting powder browns and blue fat real quick it just kept recycling those high nutrient which didn't affect the Sps but affected the coraline growth...
I really only based my opinions on the natureef denitrifier because I have set up 4 of them and maintain 4 of them... All with no problems if you follow my directions which is a simplified version of the coral reef research groups version.. The oldest being mine at at almost 4 years old years old and the youngest being 3 months... I have yet to find a system thgat can bring them down and basicly set it and forget it..
I would like to try using other alcohols but they don't give of a good biproduct such as methanol.. This is why I said I hope your using methanol... Good luck I hope all works well Rick..

Coils work but when the nitrates are low and then gone... they build up sulfur from the bacteria dieing..
