Any ideas what this may be? I tried to get a photo but my camaras not that good. Will try again when I get batterys. They are about 1mm long, and look like this...the shape and legs are clear to the naked eye.
Prolly a mysis shrimp or and amphipod. Whatever kind of "pod" it is is a good thing! You want these little critters in your tank. They will breed and supply you fish with a supplemental natural diet. They also help clean a little bit.
Yah I was just wondering what it was, much bigger then the small white dot pods I am used to seeing. 10g nano with no fish or anything, so they are multiplying quite rapidly at the moment
Hy,
I definitely defer to David on all the Bio questions.
I would say copepods are like little spheres, not flattened in any way. I agree with David that it's a bit vague to say "pod". Although it usually is referring to amphipods and copepods, it could just as easily mean stomatopods, decapods, etc.
FWIW, there are some temperate water amphi- and isopods out here in Bodega Bay that are big enough to be a single meal for some of my fish.
