Hey Reefers! Check out some new ORA Clams that just hit the website this week! For the first time in over 8 months, Crocea Clams make their long awaited return to the website! We'd say the hiatus was well worth the wait! Lets dive in deeper to these incredible and colorful clams!
We get all of our clams directly from ORA (Oceans, Reefs, & Aquariums)! They have a Mariculture facility in the Marshall Islands, where they grow and farm several species of Giant Clams! Check them out HERE! A great number of their coral frags are also grown at their Marshall Islands facility, including Acropora, Birdsnest, Euphyllia, and many more!
Crocea Clams are the smallest of the 3 Tridacna clams we carry (Derasa, Maxima, and Crocea), but this doesn't make them any less special! Only growing to about 6 inches maximum, these little-giant clams are the perfect size for Reefers of all tank dimensions! While small, Crocea are some of the most vibrant clams, exploding with color under intense white lighting! Shades of Gold, Blue, Green, Orange, & Purple can form some beautiful patterns. These colors combine with stripes, blotches, dots, and streaks, making each Crocea unique in its own way. Which is why we make each one on our website WYSIWYG!
Similar to Maxima Clams, place your Crocea Clam in some hard rock work, where they can anchor down with their foot and stabilize. Somewhere near the upper portion of your tank or in very high lighting condition, where the flow is also low to moderate. These easy and simple placement keys will help your Crocea Clam thrive and grow!
