SWC 160 pump heat

So lately the pump on my sec 160 has been running a little hot. hot enough that my heaters don't go on anymore. I've heard mixed reviews on the atman 2500 pump that comes stock. Anybody have similar issues? Any good replacement pumps that anyone knows of? I love the skimmer and it's less than a year old. Def don't want to buy a new one. Thanks
