Welp. I finally bought an Osmolator. I've wanted one of these things forever, but couldn't justify the price. I ended up finding one used from a local MR member, and made the jump.

Regarding my tank -- I've had a decent amount of evaporation lately, and I think the instability is contributing to the lack of growth and poor(ish) colors I've been struggling with. Hopefully this will help. It's definitely going to make the tank maintenance easier.

i have one and for some reason the thing just stopped working. i was so upset cause when it was working it was a great piece of equipment that was well needed if you ask me. except for the occassional snail interfering with the eye it worked great. i was actually thinking about getting the smart ato that some considered a upgrade over the tunze but i will just order the water level expansioner for my reef angel which will do the same and more

Mine got stuck recently almost flooded the house. Make sure u clean the floats in vinegar once a few months.

That's great advice. I'm also going to have a few additional redundancies built in. It's going to be plugged in to my Apex, with a time-limit (somehow i'll get that figured out) and i'm also going to have built in overflow protection -- my return line is not currently in use (long story) so it will act as a built-in overflow if the ATO gets stuck. The water will drain back into the ATO reservoir.

Also if you dose kalk you need to clean the electronic eye once a week

I stopped dosing kalk a while ago but still have to clean the eye once in a while

I've had the opposite happen where it would not activate the pump when the water level was below the sensor

Cleaning the eye in a mild dishwater solution per tunzes suggestion and thoroughly soaking it in water afterwards to wipe away traces of soap solved it.
