I have a mated pair of Bangaii's that have produced 9 successful broods over the past 1.5 years. I always am careful and separate the male from the female inbetween broods to give him plenty of nourishment. After 9 successfull broods he has aborted the last four. They still breed every 3-4 weeks like clockwork but has only held the last four egg spawnings for 2 days. Nothing has changed with them over the course of this time. They are the only two fish in a 30 breeder and eat well and seem happy. They were wild caught fish who bred soon after I introduced them so they were adults when purchased. Could you think of any reason for the male not to hold the eggs to term any more? Could they be getting old? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
