For people that have kept wrasses

I just purchased a mistery wrasse, it's about 3" and I put it in the display tank. I also have a six line in the sum that has been with me for a almost two years, I really like it. I know the six line is aggressive, in your experience would you take the chance of putting the six line together with the mistery? The six line is a lil smaller then the mistery, and doesn't bother the fish in the sump (2 clown fish).

You will get some chasing but you should be good make sure you have a good top on the tank.both have lots of energy.good luck.

i personally wouldnt as both fish even though will eat frozen both will hunt rocks all day eating and quickly demolish pod population, and the six line will more then likely be the agressor

What concerns me is that both the Six Line and the Mystery are members of the same genus, Pseudocheilinus. While Six Lines have a reputation for being territorial in general, I would expect them to be much more intolerant of a close relative. And it's not like the Mystery is really an friendlier; that whole genus has a rep for being aggressive.

If you want to try and make it work though, you should try and get the Six Line into the display ASAP before the Mystery has a chance to settle in. I would float the Six Line in a bag or large net first before letting it loose so that the fish get a chance to see each other; if the Mystery gives it trouble then, I wouldn't risk it and would just keep the Six Line in the sump.

I had a malanarus,6 line, mystery, and yellow choris !!! They love to fly so keep a good lid on it and also in my experience the mystery wrasse is a complete hermit crab assasin and like stated earlier in the thread , they will clean rocks free of pods for sure

I have a hovens wrasse and a radiant wrasse there was a little bullying the first couple weeks but the just ignore each other now every once in a while they will circle each other but its like they have an understanding but I'm sure you know every fish has a different personality what works for one may not for another just thought I'd give a little positive feed back good luck

I have m/f pair of hovens as well as a six line wrasse and they all get along great. Everyone's healthy and leave my corals along.

Thanks guys, i am still not sure if I wanna risk it, it would be really hard to catch either one, if they don't get along. I really like my six line, he's go personality..but the mistery wrasse is one of my favorite fish that I always wanted. I'll think it over the weekend.

wrasses are actually pretty easy to catch with fish traps cause they are very aggressive eaters I was trying to catch a clown goby a while ago and was only playing catch and release with my wrasses besides you have plenty of tank for the both of them don't wait to long to think it over cause once the mystery takes his territory he will defend it

I had few wrasses before easiest fish to catch i aggres with bad fish .. Once you put the trap with food they are the first ones to go in

Well I ended up putting them together, they don't fight with each other at all. They looked at each other and they just went along their business.

+1. I put a fish trap in my tank to let the fish get comfortable. And in 2 min without any food in trap the wrasse was inside.
Very curious fish

nice I figured they have enough room to find separate territory they might have little scuffles or chasing when you feed besides that little six line probably knows who's boss lol good luck
