Is this normal?!

I have had this blackcap for about a year and have never seen this....

He is coming out from behind the rockwork and spitting out sand and poor little blueleg hermits:biglaugh:.

I changed my flow patterns 2 days ago to have more flow behind the rocks. This must have covered his home so I understand, just have never seen this behavior before. Are they know to do this?
I tried to get video of him droping hermits but only got sand...

I've got a blackcap basselet as well which will do this whenever I rearrange the liverock. It'll probably stop in a day or two.
