I have decided that i would like to order (lineatus wrasse) { http://www.themarinecenter.com/lineatus.htm }and a (five bar mystery) { wrasse http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm? siteid=21&pCatId=355 } From the marine-center and would like to know if anyone has kept these species and can give me some advice. here are my tank specs-180gallon drilled. wet/dry (200gal model) 300lbs of asst LR. mostly tonga and fiji -some gulf aquaculture. 150lb live aragonite bed. 10" naso vlamingi, 5" naso vlamingi, harlequin shrimp-pair. blood shrimp. scarlet cleaners-pair, saron shrimp (hawaii)pair. lg coral banded shrimp. I am concerened about the two wrasses eating or killing my shrimp, i have read that they are reef-safe but invertebrate safe.(have not found much info on these species and have been looking everywhere)
Any advice or input would be helpful...thanks

Ok blue, I'm going to send you to our library first--> http://www.reefs.org/library
while you're there, I'm going to look over here--> www.wetwebmedia.com and I'll show you what I find in a bit.

I usually do a general Google (not via another site) as well, just to be sure I've gotten decent hits.

See ya in a few!

and..
wow, the only link I can find via Google is the one you've provided. So far it all looks really good, and that Cirrhilabrus is truly a gorgeous fish. I have never handled one, so I can't offer anything more at the moment, but surely there's going to be someone else around who has.

I have kept this wrasse with 2 other wrasses a flame and a rhomboidus.
The lineatus is definetly the boss of the 3 wrasses but so far I have not seen any real damage done by him. I feed him avariety of fresh, frozenand flake foods. All my wrasses love them. As for being completely reef safe I would say yes but they may eat or harass some of the tropical shrimp. Other than that they have never touched any corals or other inverts. As for beauty they are gorgeous fish mine loves to show off and puts on a display where he extends all his fins and makes short but quick darting motions in the tank which is a 92 gallon corner tank filled with live rock. I believe that these fish do best when in a tank with lots of holes and crevices. When the lights go off all the fish head for the live rock where they will sit on the bottom all night long. Be sure to have your tank well covered as they all can be jumpers.

I had a 2" mystery wrasse that I was quite fond of. I had to get rid of it because it ate or attempted to eat every shrimp in the tank. Linneatus should be fine.

I have a male Cirrhilabrus lineatus with the following fish in a 125G corner with a 60G refugium and 40G sump. He eats frozen mysid shrimp as his primary food. Once a week I will put in spriulina flakes which he eats. He is the alpha fish and routinely chases all of the other fish.

Fish Mates:
Pseudanthias bimaculatus
Centropyge venusta
Green chromis (2)

I had a mystery wrasse in my 90G cube with a pair of percs, lawnmower blenny and 3 green chromis. He ate mysid shrimp and spriulina flakes. He was a real bully and did not bother my two cardinal shrimp that was in the tank before him. However he hunted and eat 4 pepermint shrimp I added later to control the aptaisa. He chased and made a hector goby hide. Which resulted in the Hector goby dying. I eventually manage to net him and put him into the tank with the lineatus. He was chased by the lineatus but equally among the other fish. He seemed to settle in and eat as usually and did not eat any of the cleaner shrimps that lived in the tank. One week later he was a mystery.

I did get a male Cirrhilabrus rubromaginatus (Red Margin Fairy Wrasse) with great coloration who settled into the 90G cube nicely. This wrasse was much cheaper then the lineatus and is equally beautiful.
