I"d love to live in California, if only for the coral and fish.

My company has an office in LA and one in SF. Maybe one day...

Oh, I love him already. He's poked his head in every nook and cranny of the rockwork and is already begging for food at the water surface. So cute. :D

Bodianus are some of the best "pet" fish out there, pretty close to puffers. They have personality and likability in spades!

I've kept a lot of them. Spanish, cuban, candy, lyretail, mesothorax, diana...for some weird reason I thought this species was a bit more shy. Not at all! 8)

Seriously?

The only one I could see being more rare or desirable than that would be a B. eclancheri.

Also good mexican food. But livestock and burrito availability are about the only things I miss about the place 8)

Nice find, Matt.

Ya, those are the ones. There's a couple of RDO wallpapers (from 2003) with mine.

Hold on a sec. I just realized this a few days ago myself. Bodianus masudai is not the fish I have (nor the one you had that's pictured in Ultimate Reef Aquariums). B. masudai has a white belly and no black spot on the caudal fin. It is very similar to B. opercularis. The fish we have (and had) is an unidentified species of Bodianus.

Pictured below is the species of fish I have in my tank.
